An Indian food vlogger named Delhi Food Walk shared the food of Kohima’s Mao Market and told what is sold and eaten here. A guide present with him told him that here rats are melted and their soup is made, while frogs are made into vegetable and eaten with great fondness. Not only this, when a person undergoes surgery, frog meat is fed to him to heal him faster. People here also eat dog meat to fulfill the lack of protein.

Frog at Rs 500 per kg, cat at Rs 300 per kg

In the Mao market of Kohima, frogs are sold at Rs 500 per kg, while dog and cat meat is sold at Rs 300 per kg. Here people do not spare even insects and include them in their food as medicine. Rice wine is also consumed and sold here. Apart from this, you will see every animal found in the world being prepared for people’s plates here.

In the year 2020, the government had imposed a ban

In the year 2020, the government had banned three traders of Nagaland from selling dog meat, after which they went to the court. From where the High Court lifted the ban on them. The Kohima Bench of the Guwahati High Court had said in one of its decisions that eating dog meat is a habit of the people of Nagaland and is a part of their diet. Even in today’s modern era, people are carrying forward this food tradition, so banning dog meat is not right in any way.
